Biography

Prof. Michael Fung obtained his BSSc in Economics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1985 and PhD in Economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1990. He joined CUHK Business School in 1991.

Prof. Fung is currently Professor in Business Economics, Co-Convenor of InnovationXBusiness@CUHK, and Executive Director of the Aviation Policy and Research Centre of CUHK Business School, and Director of the Programme for Economic Education of the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at CUHK.

His research expertise lies in air transportation, business economics, transportation economics, and Hong Kong economy. He has extensively published in international refereed journals on the above areas.

Prof. Fung has served on government committees and advisory bodies, including the Assessment Panel of Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence, the Assessment Panel of Policy Research Funding Schemes, the Aviation Development and Three-runway System Advisory Committee, the CDC-HKEAA Committee on Tourism and Hospitality Studies, the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel, the Public Affairs Forum, the Air Transport Licensing Authority, and the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation.

Prof. Fung has actively engaged in management consultancy projects and policy research study. Clients included Education Bureau, Transport and Housing Bureau, Trade and Industry Department, Beijing Capital International Airport, CLP, Cathay Pacific Airways, Dragonair, China National Aviation Corporation, Zhuhai International Airport, DHL, FedEx, UPS and TNT.
