Department of Management

Overview

The Department of Management was founded in 1989 as the “Department of Organization and Management.” Later, it was renamed the “Department of Management” in 1993. Over the years, the department has developed core competencies in management research and education with an international, and particularly, Asia and China, focus. The Department is ranked 2nd worldwide in international business research (in terms of publication count in the Journal of International Business Studies, the top journal in the field of international business and one of the 24 journals in the UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings) for the period of 1970-2016.

The Department comprises a team of academics with diverse ethnicities — currently ten countries/regions are represented — and extensive global experience, who engage in a wide range of innovative and impactful management research in business sustainability, corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, human capital management, international management, organisational behaviour, technology and innovation management, and strategic management.

The Department of Management advances the vision of CUHK Business School, “To develop global business leaders for the Asian Century,” through transformative educational programmes, impactful research and knowledge, and our presence and contact with the community and society. We are committed to providing cutting-edge management education to nurture business leaders aspiring to transform the world with their global business outlook, innovative enterprisingness, and a strong sense of social responsibility and integrity. We are also committed to conducting globally-recognised and impactful research contributing to the current body of knowledge in management.  Last but not least, we are dedicated to offering value-added management solutions to our stakeholders for a transformative and sustainable world.

Our key values are commitment, diversity, integrity, professionalism, passion, and respect.
