The College launched the Cultural Integration Programme (CIP) in Term 2 of 2015/16 to further encourage cultural integration between local and non-local students and cultivate a group of future leaders with global perspective to promote cultural integration.
CIP and College Exchange Programme (CEP) reinforce themselves through a feedback loop. Students participating in CIP would be advantageous in application of CEP. After going on exchange, they could contribute to cultural integration in the College.
The College organizes the following activities during term time:
- Welcome sessions for fresh international students and incoming exchange students
- Orientation sessions in student hostels
- Local tours to explore the history, culture and nature of Hong Kong
- Interest classes related to culture

The College rolled out the Cultural Integration Ambassador (CIA) Scheme in Term 2 of 2018/19 to encourage cultural integration among students of Shaw College. CIAs receive culture and language related training and assist in organizing cultural integration activities. They are given the opportunity to implement their cultural integration plans with subsidies provided by the College.
To encourage both local and non-local students to promote cultural integration in Shaw College, the College introduced the Cultural Integration Index in Term 1 of 2019/20. Points are given based on the level of participation in cultural integration activities. Students who got 100 points or above will have an advantage in application of College exchange programme and scholarships for outgoing exchange students.
