James A. Mirrlees Postgraduate Scholarship Fund Cheque Presentation Ceremony

On 8 May, Morningside College welcomed Dr. Lee Woo Sing to campus to thank him for his donation of HK$1 million to the James A. Mirrlees Postgraduate Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will support a Morningside graduate to pursue postgraduate study in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Fundraising committee co-chair and former CUHK Vice-Chancellor Professor Lawrence J. Lau told guests how instrumental Sir James had been to the creation of CUHK’s five new colleges. Professor Lau also thanked Dr. Lee for his tremendous contributions to the betterment of Hong Kong over many years and to Morningside College’s scholarship initiative in particular. Sir James expressed his gratitude to Dr. Lee, reminding the audience that if not for scholarships he would not have been able to attend university or pursue postgraduate study. The College will begin the process of identifying a scholarship candidate in 2018/19.
