About the Student Seminar and the Best Essay Award
The 2018-2019 & 2019-2020 GE Student Seminar celebrates the innovations and critical thinking brought to bear on student essays written for the two General Education Foundation (GEF) courses, In Dialogue with Humanity and In Dialogue with Nature. Twenty essays (2018-19) and twenty-two essays (2019-20) from over 300 keen submissions per year are receiving the Best Essay Award. The student seminar will feature eight of them. These papers comprise argumentative essays as well as original attempts at short story and Platonic dialogue as alternative approaches to integrate classics from various times and to examine their relevance to the contemporary world.
The team “Second” led by Choi Ho Yin Issac (SEEM/4), and 3 students from other majors in CUHK, won the 1st Runner-up in the Citibank Disruptive Client Experience in the Digital Banking Era organized by HKGCC Business Case Competition with a monetary prize of $20,000.
The team strives to enhance the user journey by revamping Citibank HK mobile app, introducing Calendar Banking, integrating with mobile OS ecosystems, and redefining Relationship Management with the use of data and algorithms. They observed the current pain points for customers in traditional banks are long queue and phone wait times, sluggish online experience, and no consolidated view of all finance positions. They are proud to introduce our solution with three essential aspects, namely instant, lively, and personalized. They capitalize on digital banking technology to penetrate and blend into every second in everyone’s life, driving all individuals in the mass market to our digital transformation journey. Members of the team would like to thank Prof. CHAN Chun Kwong for being such a wonderful mentor.
