Resume of Career
On 1 August 2011, the Engineering and Operations Departments were merged into one technical department, and Dr. Tong assumed managerial responsibilities for the combined group. He has over 29 years of experience in the satellite and telecommunications industry and has worked in Canada, Mainland China and Hong Kong.
Dr. Tong has held various senior management positions at COM DEV International, Allen Telecom Corporation and Mark IV Industries. Prior to joining AsiaSat in March 2008, Dr. Tong was the Technical Consultant to Telesat Canada where he was responsible for various satellite programmes.
Dr. Tong holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in Engineering from the McMaster University, Canada, a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. He received his Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Newcastle in Australia.
