In 1966, Professor Sir Charles Kao published a paper which proposed using glass fibres as a conductor for optic communication. He then travelled around and convinced different scientists to believe into the favourable quality of optical fibres.

CUHK EE is co-organizing the STEM Robotics Competition. The junior secondary school group competition was held on March 11. The competitions for primary schools and senior high schools, and the official award ceremony will be held at CUHK on March 25, 2018.

Over 30 students, alumni and staff from EE and BME joined the 3-on-3 basketball event on November 18, 2017 (Saturday). There were 6 teams in total. The two teams entering the Final were the team "Lottery" formed jointly by EE PhD and undergraduate students, and the team "OTAs" formed by EE MSc students. The champion went to "Lottery". It was great fun for all the participants. See you all next time!

A EE Town Hall Meeting was held from 6:30 to 7:30pm on 16 March 2017 at TY Wong Hall. This precious opportunity was to interact with our EE students face-to-face to hear their voices and collect their opinions and views on their learning experience with our EE Department and CUHK as well as their constructive suggestions to improve EE programme design and curriculum offerings and development.

2016 CUHK Alumni Homecoming was held from 12:00 noon to 5:00pm on Saturday, November 26, 2016. EE booth had the longest waiting line for the future generations of potential EE students to play the Ping Pong games. We had great fun on that day.
