The Ox and the Great Race

OompaPossum Puppets, an international award-winning puppetry company, presents The Ox and the Great Race, featuring handcrafted puppets. This stop-motion animation highlights the importance of the Ox in the legend of “The Great Race of the Animals” of the Chinese zodiac.

Create a your own shadow puppet theater

Supplies for this tutorial

  • 1 piece of printer paper, or tissue paper or tracing paper

  • 1 piece of thicker paper: manila folder or cereal box

  • glue stick

  • scissors

  • pencil or marker

  • popsicle stick or skewer with blunted end

  • paper gift bag or cereal box

  • flashlight or clamp light

extras, but not needed:
golden streamers, ribbons or sequins paint, crayons or markers
color cellophane or stage light gels
