Xiangya Physicians and Nurses Assisting in Wuhan
2020 February 10
Yale-China salutes our Xiangya colleagues who are working on the epidemic frontlines in Hubei and Hunan. The three Xiangya Hospitals have sent around 500 nurses and physicians to Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, to fight the epidemic and care for patients. Among them are our former Yale-China Chia Fellows LI Li (2011), XIONG Yang (2018) and LIU Jia (2010), and other Yale-trained specialists. We admire their heroic contributions and send our encouragement.
Our hearts are with our friends in China. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Trustees and staff of Yale-China Association have sent multiple letters to express our support and solidarity for our dear friends at Central South University; Xiangya Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health; the three Xiangya Hospitals; and Hunan Health Commission. Our friends in China distributed our letters to their colleagues and posted them on their official websites. They also replied to us to express their deep gratitude for our support, to brief us the current situation of COVID-19 in China and the work done by Xiangya, and to show their confidence of winning the battle.
