Program Notes from Celadon

Chinese classical music, as we have come to know it, is an embodiment of a long historical and cultural fusion that started from the Qin and Han Dynasty (since 200BC). Classical Chinese music has integrated many instruments brought to China from the foreign land and infused significantly diverse musical styles with many local characteristics. For today’s Program, Celadon presents a variety of musical styles played in different geographical regions and represent the vast and diverse cultural heritages in China.

For this 2021’s Lunarfest, we will share with our on-line audience a few past performing records and a few recently recorded musical pieces.

Due to Covid-19, we were not able to gather and make any new recordings for chamber or ensemble pieces, and therefore, we included a few of such pieces we recorded from the past. Hope you enjoy these performances.
