This course aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of social work practice with young people. Apart from familiarizing students with the philosophies, historical development and operational structures of youth services in Hong Kong, emphasis is placed on studying the needs and characteristics of local young people, as well as the major concepts, theories and interventional methods when working with young people and their families. Current policy issues related to welfare and rights of young people will also be discussed.
