Funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) and with the aim at building a research base of international excellence in Hong Kong, the Areas of Excellence (AoEs) Scheme is one of the few research funding schemes with the most rigorous selection criteria.
Professor David Faure’s research project “The Historical Anthropology of Chinese Society”(中國社會的歷史人類學研究) was selected for an AoE in 2009. As the first humanities project in Hong Kong to have won the honour, the project has secured a total funding of HK$23.447M for the indicative project time-frame from 2010 – 2017.
Please visit the University’s website and the UGC website for more information on the AoE and the Project.
