Advances in the frontiers of knowledge in the arts and humanities, like advances in other fields, depend crucially on the building of an intellectually stimulating milieu, in which free and vigorous exchange of ideas and critical inquiry are encouraged and facilitated. Intellectual breakthroughs come often through the crossing of disciplinary boundaries.
The Faculty has launched several initiatives in encouraging cross-disciplinary research. One of which is the launch of Faculty Colloquium series, which facilitate dissemination of research ideas across departments & disciplines. Through these open forums, colleagues gain a better mutual understanding of the research projects they have been engaged in, and the contributions that these projects have made to their respective fields. The increased cross-disciplinary dialogues will enhance the prospect of cross-fertilization of ideas within humanities disciplines and between humanities and other fields.
Since the beginning of 2012, over 30 talks have been launched and the Faculty will continue to organize the series to create momentum for collaborative research.
