Have you ever thought about the impact of your dietary habits on climate change?

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the livestock sector plays a significant role in climate change.  Greenhouse gas emissions along livestock supply chains represents about 14% of the world’s human-induced emissions.  In addition, research shows that Hong Kong has one of the highest meat consumptions per capita in the world at 664g/day/capita, with pork and beef consumed the most, which is nine times higher than the UK.  Excessive meat consumption places a heavy burden on the environment, and therefore there is a need to educate the public to embrace the importance of making green choices.

Supported by the Environment and Conservation Fund, the new exhibition is one of the signature events of the two-year ECF ‘The Drama of Climate Change and a Low-carbon Future’.  With the aid of infographics and art installations, the exhibition reveals how our dietary habits and climate change are closely interlinked, and promotes a low-carbon lifestyle and sustainable development.

The opening ceremony of the ‘Eating Greener’ Exhibition will be held on 4 July 2019.  All are welcome.  For details, please visit the event page.
