Concept of CUHK 55^th Anniversary Logo

The design of the logo for CUHK's  55^th Anniversary is inspired by the motto of the University '博文約禮' (Through learning and temperance to virtue). These words of Confucius have long been considered a principal precept of his teaching. It is recorded in the Analects of Confucius. The design is an outline of the University’s motto expressed as the numeral ‘55’. It symbolises the prestigious achievements of the University over the past 55 years. Teaching and administrative staff, students and alumni can always adhere to the motto of the University, laying equal emphasis on the intellectual and moral aspects of education. We can remain staunch in being kind to one another with a true heart, practise living a life “Through learning and temperance to virtue”, and build a bright future for mankind.

Acknowledgment: CUHK has specially invited alumnus Mr. Karr Yip (2000 New Asia, Bachelor's in Architecture, 2003 Master of Architecture), who is the chairman of Hong Kong Designers Association and designer of the emblems of Wu Yee Sun College, C.W. Chu College and Lee Woo Sing College, to contribute a design for the 55^th anniversary logo.
