Enlistment of Volunteer to Serve as Resident Tutor for S.H. Ho College
(1 August 2018 to 31 July 2019)
S.H. Ho College (“the College”) is a home away from home for undergraduate students. The twin characteristics of full residence and communal dining are the hallmark of our college education. As we have 600 students of S.H. Ho College residing at our hostels, the College is now recruiting its Resident Tutor(s) from 1 August 2018 to 31 July 2019.
1) Full-time staff member with executive experience; or 2) full-time postgraduate student in research or taught programme in CUHK who is able to fulfill the following requirements is welcome to apply:
• energetic, mature and responsible;
• fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua;
• good track records as resident tutors, experience and knowledge of facility management, college general education, student activities, first-aid, mental well-being, service learning, green life and event-planning will be an advantage;
• should be available for duty from 1 August 2018 to 31 July 2019
The Resident Tutor will assist the College and Wardens to discharge the following duties:
• Perform duty roster on weekdays as well as Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays;
• Provide support, guidance and emergency care to residents;
• Monitor residents’ usage of hostel facilities;
• Facilitate communication and cooperation among residents through planning and organizing resident activities and functions;
• Provide support to the College and Wardens in handling resident disciplinary cases;
• Support communal dining (Tue, Wed or Thu: 6:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.);
• Assist check-in and check-out of residents;
Appointee will be offered free accommodation with a single room and free meals in Communal Dinners in which students will be required to join. This is not an employment either on a full-time or part-time basis, and is not regarded as a concurrent employment with the University (if applicable). There will not be any allowance/remuneration or any other employee benefits for provision of this volunteer service.
