A New Look at Chinese Medicine Classics: An Exhibition of the Rare Book Collection from Professor Cheung Siu-cheong

Date:
03/10/2017 to 30/01/2018

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the School of Chinese Medicine and to showcase the special collections of “Professor Cheung Siu-cheong Chinese Medicine Collection”, the Library will be hosting an exhibition titled “A New Look at Chinese Medicine Classics: An Exhibition of the Rare Book Collection from Professor Cheung Siu-cheong” from 28 September 2017 to 30 January 2018 at the University Library.

In 2004, the Library was greatly honored to receive the invaluable “Professor Cheung Siu-cheong Chinese Medicine Collection” donated by Professor KONG Yun Cheung, the founding director of the School of Chinese Medicine. There are in total 2,485 volumes of ancient Chinese Medicine readings, including 61 titles (182 volumes) of rare books published around the age of Ming and Qing Dynasty and 330 titles (1,049 volumes) in the Qing Dynasty and Minguo period. With financial support from the University, the Library digitised the ancient Chinese medicine texts and established the Chinese Medicine Texts Collection database for open access. The exhibition will present some of the Chinese medicine rare books and highlight the significant ancient medical masters and their ancient classics in the collection.
