Sociology is an interesting and practical discipline that helps you to look beyond common sense. It studies how human behaviour is influenced by and influencing their social groups, like families, friends, organizations, communities, nations and the global society. Sociology analyzes social phenomena with scientific methods. Our programme trains students for abstract reasoning and social research skills.
Sociology graduates usually master the ability to analyze social issues critically on the basis of evidence. Our graduates are ready to work in an interdisciplinary area and in multicultural settings.
CUHK Sociology receives worldwide recognition and has a very long history in Hong Kong. In 2020, our Department is globally ranked 39th in the QS World Ranking of Sociology Department.
