Class Arrangements for Undergraduate Programmes from October 2020 for Term 1 2020-21 |
Dear Students, |
Following the announcement of the University on 21 September 2020 on Learning in the “New Normal”, please be advised of the following class arrangements and related matters starting from October 2020, when more higher-level classes, as well as lab/studio/practicum-based courses, will resume face-to-face teaching/academic activities. |
1. |
The modes of teaching on CUSIS for Level 4 classes have already been updated as Mixed-Mode Teaching or Face-to-Face Teaching accordingly with teaching venue shown on the Timetable. For other class levels (i.e. class codes beginning with 3xxx or below), RES will update the Teaching Timetable on CUSIS after proper approval has been given by the University on the changes in mode of teaching. Please observe our email communication later. |
2. |
Unless otherwise advised by individual course teachers concerned, classes with special approval will resume face-to-face teaching/academic activities with effect from 19 October 2020. Since the course teachers should communicate with the students who have registered the classes regarding the exact date of the related class meetings/the academic activities, students who have registered the concerned class should ONLY attend the classes/academic activities on the dates, the time (should follow that of the teaching timetable), and also the classroom/venue as advised by the course teachers. The notification has been/ will be made by the course teachers concerned either by e-mail or posted in the “Class Note” on CUSIS. As some students may be unable to return to campus for various reasons, all classes will have an online option. Students should communicate with the course teachers concerned directly if they have any problems for attending the classes online or in-person so that additional support can be provided. |
3. |
Students who would like to add/drop the courses due to the change of mode of teaching should contact the course offering department concerned. The department add/drop period has been extended to 5 October 2020. Please e-mail the related course add/drop form (available on RES homepage) to the Department concerned and seek advice from the Department by 5 October 2020. If there are other special reasons to late add/drop after 5 October 2020, please be advised that an e-platform has been made available on RES homepage to facilitate the workflow of the approval processes. |
4. |
To support the learning needs of some students who have to return to campus for face-to-face classes/other academic activities, and also attending classes consecutively in the online mode, the University will have a central booking system for students to reserve the study areas of Office of Student Affairs and some communal classrooms for students to attend online classes on campus, while students can also make use of other appropriate study areas of the Library. The Booking System will be made available on RES homepage starting from 12 October 2020. Alternatively, students may also use the following zones of ITSC for studying or attending the online lectures. |

User Area (including Training Rooms), 1/F Pi Chiu Building |
