Class Arrangements and Course Add/Drop, 2nd Term 2020-21 |
Dear Students, |
The first teaching day of 2nd Term 2020-21 will begin on 11 January 2021. Please pay attention to the following pertaining to class arrangements and course add/drop. |
1. |
As the pandemic situation fluctuates from time to time, students should always observe the announcements of the University https://againstcovid19.cuhk.edu.hk/ on the most updated information on teaching arrangements. |
2. |
Please note that the teaching modes and other relevant timetable information have already been published on Second Term Teaching Timetable under CUSIS (please select the right term in CUSIS in checking the timetable information). However, as the teaching modes are still subject to change due to various reasons, apart from the timetable information, students should always check the announcements of the University, course offering departments and course teachers concerned for the information of the date/time and venue for face-to-face classes and the appropriate teaching platform (e.g. Zoom) for online classes before attending the first lesson of the courses they have registered. |
3. |
Students who would like to audit classes during course add/drop period should observe the announcements of the departments concerned, or to contact the course teachers/departments concerned for information about the teaching mode/platform and related details (e.g. Meeting ID and password for ZOOM meeting). Departments may also invite those students who are in the wait lists to sit in their classes, if deemed appropriate. |
4. |
Please observe the detailed information on RES homepage for course add/drop arrangements. The following points are highlighted for your attention. |
• |
Students should use the system functions under CUSIS for course add/drop during 18 January (8:30 p.m. Monday) to 24 January (8:30 p.m. Sunday) 2021 except for courses with "add/drop consent". In order to free up the quotas for other students, students should DROP the courses under CUSIS as soon as possible and by 8:30 p.m. on 24 January 2021 if they no longer intend to register for the course. Departments may NOT allow students to drop courses during 25-29 January 2021 except those with very special reasons. |
• |
Students on wait list under CUSIS will enroll automatically whenever the quota is increased, or when the quota is freed up by other students. There will not be any separate e-mail notification. Therefore, students MUST check their updated course enrolment under “View My Classes” of CUSIS on a daily basis. |
• |
Students who need to seek approval for course enrolment at course offering departments concerned may do so during 25-29 January 2021. They may follow the notice of the departments to send by e-mail the appropriate course registration form (available at RES homepage) to departments concerned. |
• |
Students should observe Regulation 5.0 “Course Load and Selection” in the General Regulations Governing Full-time Undergraduate Studies regarding the prescribed course load of at least 9 units and no more than 18 units of courses to be registered in any academic term within the normative study period unless there are exceptions as allowed by Regulations. RES will send e-mail reminders to students who have course load problem. |
• |
RES hotline (3943 9888), ITSC’s technical support (3943 8845) and Service Desk (http://servicedesk.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk) will be extended up to 9:30 p.m. on 18 January 2021 to answer enquiries on course add/drop. Students may also send e-email with screen capture of the problems encountered to RES mailbox: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. |
5. |
To support students who have to attend both online and face-to-face classes and need self-learning study space on campus, Centralized Study Space Booking System (CBS) will be made available from 4 January 2021 for students to reserve the study areas of Office of Student Affairs and some communal classrooms on campus starting from 11 January 2021. Details will be posted on RES homepage starting from 4 January 2021. |
6. |
Students should always observe the “Guidelines for Precautionary Measures for Face-to-Face Meetings” and “Guidelines for Precautionary Measures for Face-to-Face Examinations” posted on RES homepage when they come back to campus for classes/examinations. |
If you have any further questions on the above, please send e-mail to RES (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or contact us at 3943 9888. |
Best regards, |
