Subject: One-off Arrangement for Pass/Fail Grading (for PHED Courses ONLY) and Late Drop Options for Courses Offered in 2nd Term 2020-21 |
Dear Students, |
The University has decided that Pass/Fail grading option will only be offered for all University Physical Education (PHED) courses in 2nd term 2020-21, and late drop option will be offered to students for courses that allow such an option, as decided by the course offering departments. Please observe the following important information and procedures for late drop of courses and/or apply for Pass/Fail grading for PHED courses in CUSIS from 12 April 2021 (10:00a.m. HK Time) – 18 April 2021 (11:59p.m. HK Time). LATE application will NOT be considered. Besides, the applications submitted and recorded in CUSIS are IRREVOCABLE. |
1. Application in CUSIS for Late Drop Option |
• |
Students MUST read the “List of Courses that do NOT allow Late Drop” posted on RES homepage. |
• |
Students can drop in CUSIS one or more but not all course(s) registered in 2nd term 2020-21 during the special late drop period 12 April 2021 (10:00a.m. HK Time) – 18 April 2021 (11:59p.m. HK Time), except courses that do NOT allow late drop. |
• |
The time appointment for the special late drop period in 2nd term 2020-21 will be assigned to eligible students in CUSIS on 7 April 2021. Please check it under “Enrollment Dates”. Students should report to RES by email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if they do not have the time appointment. |
• |
Students MUST select the correct term (i.e. 2020-21 Term 2) and make sure that they drop the right course registered in 2nd term 2020-21. It is IRREVOCABLE once the course(s) have been dropped in CUSIS. |
• |
Blanket endorsement from the Major Programme(s) concerned and approval from the Registrar are deemed to be given for students whose course loads fall below the minimum course load requirement of 9 units as a result of late-dropping the course(s). |
• |
Students should consider the academic progress and the pre-requisite courses that are required for course registration of courses to be taken in Summer Session 2020-21 or 1st term 2021-22 when making decision of late drop. If students do NOT fulfill the pre-requisite for course registration after the late drop, they will NOT be able to register the concerned courses. |
2. Application in CUSIS for Pass/Fail Grading Option for University Physical Education Courses |
• |
Students should login CUSIS and select “Applications” in the System, then choose “Pass/Fail Grading (UG)” from 12 April 2021 (10:00a.m. HK Time) – 18 April 2021 (11:59p.m. HK Time) to submit Pass/Fail grading application for University Physical Education courses (i.e. PHED) that they have registered in 2nd term 2020-21. Students who have NOT submitted for this option will be graded according to the existing grading basis of the PHED courses. |
• |
The Pass/Fail grades for PHED courses will NOT have any effect to the calculation of students’ grade point average (GPA), including Term GPA and Cumulative GPA. Please be reminded once again that these grade point averages are contributing factors to the assessment of honours classification, and to the progression (i.e. academic standing) and determination of Dean’s lists. |
