CUHKMC and PWH are both teaching hospitals of the Faculty of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. While CUHKMC is a private teaching hospital, PWH is a public teaching hospital. Serving as the hubs where medical students receive professional medical training, both CUHKMC and PWH are committed to advancing education and research in the field of medicine and health care.

Service

Yes. CUHKMC currently has two out-patient centres located in Tsim Sha Tsui, and they are CUHK Medical Clinic and CUHK Medical Clinic - Physiotherapy Centre. Case booking is mainly based on appointments for both Centres.

In the first phase of operations, CUHKMC provides the below services:

The General Outpatient Clinic at CUHKMC accepts walk-in cases. Patients may visit the clinic when they need medical consultations, no appointment is needed. For other services, such as Specialist Outpatient Services and Physiotherapy etc., prior appointments are required.

 

Charges for General Outpatient Clinic: HK$ 330 (Consultation fees only and exclude fees for laboratory services, medications, and other treatments or medical examinations)

The Specialist Outpatient Centre is located on the 1/F of CUHKMC and it only accepts cases by appointment. While a referral letter is not required for making an appointment, patients are advised to double-check their insurance policy to ensure if they need to obtain a valid referral letter prior to receiving the specialist outpatient services.

At the Specialist Outpatient Centre, our specialists and professors offer one-stop service of consultation, investigation and treatment on a broad range of specialties including Family Medicine, General Medicine, Surgery, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, ENT, Cardiology, Orthopaedics & Traumatology, Gynaecology, Urology, Neurology, Neuro-surgery, Plastic Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Nephrology, Psychiatry, Oncology, and Infectious disease. The Specialist Outpatient Centre will provide services of other specialty in the future. If you want to book physiotherapy service with the CUHKMC ‘s Physiotherapy Centre, a referral letter issued by a General Practitioner or Specialist is needed.

Our Eye Centre aims to provide quality and subspecialty-based clinical ophthalmic care to the public. The center is operated by a team of CUHK professors, ophthalmologists, ophthalmic nurses, optometrists, and other professionals, and provides consultation services which cover Cataract, Glaucoma, Corneal Disorders, Macular and Retinal Diseases, and Dry Eye Disease etc. (For more information, you may visit https://www.cuhkmc.hk/en/doctor_and_service/service_and_centres/medical_centres/Eye_Centre)

The CUHKMC Emergency Medicine Centre is expected to commence operations and provide 24-hour emergency medical services in the 3rd to 4th quarter of 2021. For the time being, Emergency Medicine specialists are stationed at our General Outpatient Clinic to provide services.

A welcome kit will be provided to each admitted patient for free. The kit includes face towel, toothpaste, toothbrush, drinking cup, comb, shower gel, shower cap and other personal utensils. Patients may also bring their own clothing/pyjamas, dressing gown, slippers/room shoes, or other personal belongings.

In-patient meals are prepared by the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin at the moment, and we could help patient to place order upon request.

In-patients may settle their hospital bills with the below methods:

  • Make an electronic payment (such as Visa, Master Card, Alipay, WeChat pay etc.) in the room
  • Proceed to the Cashier at G/F and settle the payment in cash
  • Show the deposit receipt upon discharge

CUHKMC accepts various modes of payment including cash, Visa, Master Card, Alipay, WeChat pay or cashier order drawn from a local bank. Cheques will not be accepted.

In response to the latest situation of COVID-19, lodger accommodation is unavailable at the time being. CUHKMC will closely monitor the epidemic situation and accordingly adjust the above-mentioned measures for overnight stay of family members.

To enhance price transparency and enable patients to have a better estimation of their budgets, CUHKMC has developed package prices to all operations and procedures. CUHKMC’s package prices are applicable to 4-bed room inpatient or day procedures patient, which cover all costs of the intended operation(s) / procedure(s), including:

  • Doctor’s fee
  • Anaesthesiologist’s fee
  • Room charges (4-bed room only and excluding meal)
  • Essential and related diagnostic procedure charges (including laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging)
  • Treatment procedure charges (including emergency procedure, blood transfusion, etc.)
  • Operating theatre charges (including extra operation theatre time)
  • Nursing procedure charges
  • Inpatient medication fee and up to seven days’ worth of discharge medication related to the condition
  • Equipment and instrument charges
  • Consumable, material, and standard implant charges
  • Costs related to complications (including intensive care and re-operation charges), which does not affect the level of Medical Condition
  • Package Fees are determined based on complexity of the intended treatment or operation and doctor’s assessment on patient’s medical condition with Medical Condition Levels

Infection Control

  • All inpatients or patients receiving day procedures (such as Endoscopy Services) are required to provide negative COVID-19 PCR test result within 72 hours of admission.
  • Patients could take the COVID-19 PCR test at a government recognised testing institution or CUHK Medical Centre at their own expense. The Hospital will charge a cost price for the test.
  • Outpatients and persons accompanying outpatients are exempted for provision of negative COVID-19 PCR test result.
  • CUHKMC will closely monitor the epidemic situation and review the above-mentioned measures.

No. CUHKMC only accepts COVID-19 PCR test result issued by government recognised testing institutions.

Access Control

  • For precautionary needs, apart from users of hospital services, i.e. patients, persons accompanying outpatients and visitors of inpatients, all other visitors are required to make appointment in advance.

 

General Information

  • All visitors are required to screen on history of Fever, Travel, Occupation, Contact and Clustering (FTOCC) and receive temperature check before getting into the Hospital.
  • All visitors are required to wear surgical masks at all times. Visitors who don’t comply with this rule will be asked to leave.
  • People with fever OR acute respiratory symptoms OR pneumonia, AND visited *the countries/ areas with active community transmission of COVID-19/contacted any confirmed cases in the last 14 days before onset of symptoms; OR confirmed COVID-19 patients within 4 weeks after discharge and without a valid negative re-testing result are considered as “high risk individuals”. They would be referred to hospitals under the Hospital Authority for further management.

 

Ward Visiting Arrangement

  • Visiting Hours: 12:00 - 13:00 and 18:00 - 19:00
  • Visitor Limit: 1 person only
  • Visitors of inpatients should provide a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test result which is obtained within 72 hours.
  • For repeated or regular visits, visitors should provide negative COVID-19 PCR test results on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain good personal and hand hygiene practices at all times.
  • Perform hand hygiene before leaving the patient room by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • No eating or drinking during visits, and do not remove the surgical mask at any time inside the hospital.
  • Maintain appropriate social distancing during visits.
  • For the sake of patient and visitor safety, ward visits are not allowed for the following persons:
    • People who are symptomatic such as fever, respiratory symptoms or sudden loss of smell/ taste at the time of visiting;
    • People who have travel history outside Hong Kong in the past 14 days;
    • People who have been in close contact with confirmed case in the past 28 days;
    • People who are under medical surveillance;
    • People whose household members are under home quarantine;
    • People who received a written direction for COVID-19 testing under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulation (Cap. 599J) and cannot provide a negative COVID-19 test result; and
    • People who have visited specified premises in the specified time listed in a compulsory testing notice under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulation (Cap. 599J), and cannot provide a negative COVID-19 test result.

Others

Parking is available at the parking lot at HK$30 per hour for the FIRST THREE hours, and HK$60 per hour from the FOURTH hour onwards.

The parking lot at the CUHKMC only accepts payment made by Octopus Card. Visitors need to use the same card for carpark entry, exit and making payment. If you lose your Octopus Card during your visit at CUHKMC, please contact our Security Office.

 

CUHKMC does not provide top-up service of Octopus Card. If you have such need, you may visit the nearby MTR station or convenient store.

Yes. There are 18 parking lots for motor cycle.
