The Programme aims to upgrade students’ Chinese and English Language through diversified activities, including language tables, language seminars and language workshops during term time.
English tables aim at strengthening students’ confidence in speaking English through relaxing dinner conversations. In weekly language seminars, invited guests share specialized language topics with students and exchange ideas with participants during the dinner. Language workshops aim at training students to meet the language needs of their future careers. They are given opportunities to learn English phonetics, academic writing, business Chinese and creative writing, etc.

Thanks to the donation by Hop Wai Tong, the College has established the Hop Wai Art and Cultural Programme which aims at cultivating interest and understanding in Chinese culture and world art on campus, and broadening the horizons of staff and students.

The Programme is financed through the Siu Lien Ling Wong Visiting Fellows Endowment, generously donated to the College by Mrs. Siu Lien Ling Wong and her family. The purpose of the Programme is to promote academic and cultural interchange, to broaden the intellectual horizon of staff and students, and to enrich the learning environment of the College. Since 1983, one to two outstanding persons in the fields of scholarship or cultural affairs are invited to visit the College, normally for a period from two weeks to one month during teaching terms. The Visiting Fellows are invited to give public lectures, to participate in discussion panels, and to be the main speakers in the College Annual Education Conference. In addition, they are also invited to have informal discussions with staff and students of the College.
