63rd Graduation Ceremony of Chung Chi College The Chinese University of Hong Kong Chung Chi College

The Chung Chi College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held its 63rd Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, November 16, 2017.  There are 738 Chung Chi graduates conferred this year. The ceremony was presided by Mr. LI Kwok Sing Aubrey, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees. Prof. YING Fuk Tsang and The Rev. Dr. TAI Ho Fai, members of the College Board of Trustees, read the scripture and led the prayers, respectively. The College also invited Dr. KO Wing Man, GBS, JP, the Former Secretary for Food and Health of The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the Guest of Honour.

The ceremony featured an address by Dr. KO who spoke of his career aspirations and development and recounted the challenges he had faced, which included choosing to specialize in orthopedics upon graduation, giving up his clinical practice to join the then newly established Hospital Authority and, ultimately, accepting the post of Secretary for Food and Health. He encouraged graduates to take on new challenges and hoped that they would find a suitable job. In his opinion, graduates should not just consider their personal ambition and rewards when choosing their career. They should make good use of what they have learnt to the benefit of society, as well.

Miss CHUNG Pui Wun, the Valedictorian this year, delivered the graduation speech at the ceremony. She thanked families, teachers, classmates, friends, and staff of CUHK for giving the graduates support throughout the four years of study in CUHK and making their university lives fruitful and meaningful.

Prof. FONG Wing Ping, Head of Chung Chi College, then presented certificates and gifts to the graduates. The ceremony ended with the benediction by The Rev. Dr. SO Shing Yit, member of the College Board of Trustees.
