This course examines the assumption and theoretical foundation of family education. It aims to help students understand different perspectives in family education and its implications for practice. Theories and concepts of parenting, adult learning and parenthood will be examined. Practical skills of assessing family and parental needs, curriculum and program designs, and strategies in advocacy of family and parent education programmes will also be tackled. Focuses will be lay on the application of family education in different social contexts, such as social service organizations, schools, hospitals, maternal and child health care centres.
