Jointly organised by the Family and Group Practice Research Centre, Department of Social Work, CUHK and Department of Sociology, Zhejiang University, the seminar on “Family-based intervention for Chinese families of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)” was successfully held on 18 December 2020 (Friday).
Prof. Joyce Ma Lai-chong and Dr. Julia Lo Wing-Ka from the Family and Group Practice Research Centre, Department of Social Work, CUHK as well as Dr. Lily Xia Lili from Department of Sociology, Zhejiang University were invited to share topics on “Family-based intervention for Chinese families of children with ADHD”, “Group process development of multi-family groups” and “Notes for becoming a family therapist” respectively via the onsite and online platforms.
In this seminar, participants were expected to learn about the latest literature and research on the difficulties faced by Chinese families with children with ADHD; grasp the psychosocial service needs of these families from the systemic-developmental and strengths perspective; rigorously examine the contributions and limitations of the family-based intervention in helping these families, and recognise the roles and functions of social workers in a multi-disciplinary intervention.
