As a young kid I loved reading Jane Goodall a lot. Her fascinating experiences in Gombe, Tanzania dazzled me, so much so I had grown up wanting to live in a jungle and spend a lifetime there! There is no jungle in Hong Kong, but my love and curiosity for nature and non-/human species never cease. Luckily I bumped into anthropology.
I am a community organizer and activist. During the past years, I have been involved with a non-indigenous community in the New Territories, fighting for peasants’ land rights and against bulldozer development.
Recently I am involved in an intentional community project aiming at sustainable transitions in a rural neighborhood. My project is an action research undertaking which aims at envisioning a common, resilient, and sustainable future by putting our values and beliefs into daily practice.
My other non-academic interests include: anthropology of environment and ecology; sustainable transitions; anthropology of wellbeing; eco-villages & intentional community movement; home fermentation, cooking, gardening, composting, and wild swimming!
