I am a Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology and Gender Studies at CUHK. My academic interests and expertise lay in the field of medical anthropology, cultural studies, and feminist theory. Currently, I am working on a research project of cervical cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in mainland China, aiming at providing a better understanding of people’s sufferings from disease, the doctor-patient relationship, and women’s health condition. By investigating how have changes in knowledge, technologies, and policies for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cervical cancer affected women’s health in China today, I try to understand the impact of biomedicine on both an ordinary woman’s life course and different female bodies in biological-social enactments.
