Trained as a translator and a linguist in my undergraduate studies, my early interest to China came through learning Mandarin. Later, the blurry line between language and culture made me turn towards Anthropology.
My dissertation project talks about the development of new biomedical technology in China, in particular, immunotherapy for cancer treatment. During more than 15 months, I have conducted fieldwork among scientists, lab technicians, doctors, nurses, foreign patients and their family aiming to trace the multiple relationships crafted around experimental treatments and what it takes to sustain them.
