Symposium on Teaching Architectural History and Theory 2016

This symposium brings together architectural educators and research postgraduate students to discuss issues in teaching architectural history and theory from pedagogical objectives, modes of teaching, assignment work, assessment, to learning outcomes.

Five academic visitors will travel to Hong Kong for this event: Prof. Norihito Nakatani (Waseda University) will deliver a keynote address on the relationship between his research work and his teaching activities. Prof. Xu Subin (Tianjin University) will present aspects of her elective course for master’s students on the conservation of Asian cultural heritage. Prof. Kah Wee Lee (National University of Singapore) will discuss his core course on history and theory of urban planning for master’s students. Prof. Ping-Sheng Wu (National Cheng Kung University, Tainan) will discuss the relationship between seeing and thinking in two courses in his university. Prof. Feng Jiang (South China University of Technology) will present aspects of a course on architectural theory for master’s students.

Three CUHK courses will be presented by Prof. Puay-peng Ho and Prof. Stan Fung at this symposium.

This event is open to teachers and students in the relevant fields from CUHK and other educational institutions in Asia. No conference fee will be charged.
