Introduction

Alfred Yeung is a partner of Brock Carmichael, a UK architectural and planning practice, as well as Founder and Managing Director of Brock Carmichael Asia, where he oversees the company’s project portfolio in Asia. Yeung has also held senior executive positions in a number of real estate companies, with more than 20 years of global experience in property development and project management in the UK, North America, Australia and Asia.

Yeung’s interests in the social, cultural and economic aspects of urban development lead to his belief that cities need to keep re-inventing themselves for sustainable evolution. He is especially passionate about adaptive reuse of buildings and urban fabrics with community engagement.

Yeung studied Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University before completing his MSc in Construction Management at the University of Bath. He has also received executive management training from Harvard Law School, FranklinCovey Leadership Programme, Liverpool Business School and Ivey Business School at Western University. Yeung has taught in Liverpool and Hong Kong, and currently holds adjunct professorship at the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Yeung’s major projects are as follows:

  • Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (refurbishment and extension)
  • Merseyside Maritime Museum, Liverpool (adaptive reuse of the Albert Dock)
  • Middlesex House, London (adaptive reuse)
  • YWCA Kowloon Centre, Hong Kong (refurbishment and extension)
  • Binhai, Tianjin (mixed-use masterplan)
  • Wuli, Kunming (regeneration masterplan)
  • Shilin Forest, Kunming (eco-tourism masterplan)
