The "Chemistry" programme provides students with a sound basic training in all disciplines of modern chemistry. Much emphasis has been put on the practical training in the curriculum as many required courses are accompanied by laboratory courses. In their final years, students with good academic standing are given a choice to undertake an individual research project for an undergraduate thesis. They can gain valuable additional practical experience and most of them continue to pursue their higher degrees either locally or in some well-known universities abroad.
Currently, the Department of Chemistry has a total enrolment of about 210 undergraduate students.
