Disestablishment of the Centre for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society (CSRCS), Chung Chi College

(Effective from July 1, 2017)

With the full support of the Chung Chi College, the Centre for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society (CSRCS) was established in 1996. Over the past 20 years, CSRCS has been endeavoring hard to serve its mission to enhance scholarly research and understanding of religions, especially Christianity, in relation to Chinese culture and society. 

With the effort of all previous and existing CSRCS members and unfailing support from the College and other partners, CSRCS has promoted an environment conducive to vigorous research on Christianity in China among College members and also the academic circles locally and overseas. The Centre has also successfully established a good reputation in the global academic community by providing high-quality academic activities on religious studies and its interaction with Chinese culture and society.  Its achievement is well recognized locally and internationally. 

With conscientious assessment and in-depth discussion, we could proudly conclude that CSRCS has now accomplished its mission, while some other research centres have been set up for similar missions over the past few years.  In view of this, we are now bringing a respectable completion of the Centre, effective from July 1, 2017. 

The Centre’s well-established heritage, particularly the International Young Scholars’ Symposium, would be retained and transferred to the Centre for Christian Studies of the Divinity School of Chung Chi College, Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The Chung Chi College is extremely appreciative of the hard work and dedication of the team that served the CSRCS, and very grateful to all the partners and friends who have contributed to the Centre’s achievements in the past 20 years. We look forward to your continuing support for the Centre for Christian Studies of the Divinity School of Chung Chi College in the future.

崇基學院宗教與中國社會研究中心解散

（2017年7月1日起生效）

得到崇基學院的鼎力支持，宗教與中國社會研究中心於1996年成立，二十年來一直致力推動學界對宗教（特別是基督教）與中國社會的學術研究，並鼓勵學院師生及學界認識宗教文化與中國社會之間的互動關係。

有賴中心成員的努力，以及崇基學院和各界的支持，本中心得以舉辦眾多高質素的學術活動，並出版相關的著作，促進國際對宗教與中國社會研究的學術風氣，成果獲中外學術界肯定。

二十年過後，本中心欣然見證學界對宗教與中國社會的研究越加重視，不少類似的研究中心在近年相繼成立。回顧過去，宗教與中國社會研究中心很高興已達致其成立目的。經深思熟慮及詳細討論後，本中心決定由2017年7月1日起正式解散。

本中心的主要學術活動，包括國際青年學者研討會等，將轉交崇基學院神學院基督教研究中心繼續舉辦。

崇基學院衷心感謝中心所有成員過去二十年來的辛勞及貢獻，以及各合作伙伴和朋友的一直以來的全力支持。我們冀盼閣下能將對本中心的支持延續至崇基學院神學院基督教研究中心。
