Professional School Improvement Programme – Macau Schools
QSIP was established in 1998, as the education reform in Hong Kong set off. Since then, our team has provided a wide range of professional support to different types of schools, and gained substantial experience in implementing reform initiatives and facilitating school improvement. The foci of professional support include but not limited to:
- assisting schools in mapping out development plans and develop a self-improving mechanism through the Planning-Implementation-Evaluation cycle (P-I-E cycle)
- strengthening the professional leadership of middle managers to build up internal capacity that leads to continuous school improvement
- facilitating teachers to cater for students’ learning diversity, which is a phenomenon that received increasing consideration under the universal education
- empowering schools to develop and implement strategies that foster students’ self-directed learning, which echoes the global education reform
We believe that our long experience of collaborating with the Hong Kong schools shall provide valuable references to the schools in Macau in undertaking their recent education reform.
QSIP has provided professional school-based support to 9 secondary and primary schools in Macau to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness and facilitate school improvement. As every school is a unique entity, we emphasise on tailor-making action plan for each partner school with reference to its school context and needs for development. The action plan composes of various professional development activities, targeting at teaching and learning enhancement, student nurturing and teacher capacity building, which ultimately leads to comprehensive school improvement.
