Abstract

In this talk, I will discuss factor models and latent class models that are frequently used in educational measurements. Specific attention will be given to latent class models for item response data. I will talk about recently developed methods and algorithms for statistical analysis under such models that may be viewed as structure learning (unsupervised). The methods are applied to data from educational testing and psychiatric evaluation. If time permits, additional developments will be presented.
