Challenging perceptions, developing perseverance—CUHK students actively learn through exploratory experiences

Students from eight countries bring ideas forward to address a global issue at the World’s Challenge Challenge.

To strengthen the international experiential learning experience of students, CUHK nominated and supported a team of three students to attend the International World’s Challenge Challenge held at Western University, Canada during the first week of June 2018. Fourteen student teams from eight countries gathered together to bring ideas forward to address a global issue. They came from Queen’s University, University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, University of Lausanne, University of Buffalo, to name a few. CUHK representatives delivered the idea of ‘G-phone – Recycling the Smart Phones’ at the event. ‘We are proud to say that we have gone the extra mile and the experiences were extremely wonderful and fruitful. One team from Japan even tried the taste of different insects as its members wanted to substitute grain-based cereal with insects to ease the food shortage problem. We hope to further explore the world and grasp every chance to make our dreams come true,’ the CUHK team shared with the Office of Academic Links.

Students were also supported to take part in other international programmes this summer, including the APRU Undergraduate Leaders’ Program hosted by the University of Sydney, and the University Scholars Leadership Symposium organised by the United Nations in Bangkok.
