Brewing fresh ideas to address global challenges in Sydney
The CUHK delegation takes part in the Sydney Summit.
As a strategic partner of the University of Sydney (USyd), CUHK was invited to take part in its Sydney Summit in November 2018. CUHK was represented by Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. FUNG Tung, Director of the Institute of Future Cities; and Ms. Shally Fan, Director of Academic Links. The summit brought together USyd’s strategic partners in North America, Europe, and Asia for three days of stimulating conversations and network building. Senior executives and researchers had the opportunity to discuss ways to collaborate on common global challenges, as well as initiatives related to planetary health, multidisciplinary research, global education, and industry engagement.
To promote research collaboration between CUHK and USyd, the ‘USyd-CUHK Partnership Collaboration Awards’ has been established to support joint projects that will strengthen the strategic priorities and multidisciplinary research of the two universities. Five applications in the areas of bioengineering, genetics, pharmaceutical sciences, planetary health, and speech pathology were awarded in the scheme’s first call.
