Recapping the “Workshops for the Final-Year RPg Students 2017–18” held on 19 January 2018

The Division of History organised “Workshops for the Final-Year RPg Students”, offering an interactive sharing and exchange platform for the Department’s research postgraduate students to exchange and discuss their research findings.

 


Recapping the talk “Popular Culture under Colonial Governance: Dragon Boat Races in Hong Kong” of the Lectures Series on “Comparative and Public History: In Search of Popular Culture in Hong Kong” delivered by Dr. MA Muk Chi at the Hong Kong Museum of History on 20 January 2018

Dr. MA Muk Chi gave a public talk with an audience of 70. The talk introduced the development of dragon boat races in Hong Kong. It also investigated the relationship between dragon boat races and the colonial government.

 


Welcoming Members from the Institute of Qing History, Renmin University of China

Twelve members from the Institute of Qing History, Renmin University of China, visited the Department on 23 January 2018. They were received by Prof. LEUNG Yuen Sang, Dean of Faculty of Arts; Prof. LAI Ming Chiu, Department Chairman; Prof. HO Pui Yin, Prof. CHIU Peng-sheng, Prof. CHOI Chi Cheung, Prof. HE Xi, Prof. POON Shuk Wah and Prof. PUK Wing Kin, faculty members of the Department. Members from both universities eagerly took the opportunity to discuss and share their views on recent research on Qing history and students’ development.
