Acting Appointment

Prof. YIP Hon Ming, Department Chair, will be away between 25 and 28 October 2015 to conduct research. Prof. LAI Ming Chiu will be the Acting Chair during Prof. Yip’s academic leave.

 


Academic Activities

Recapping the academic seminar “從出土秦簡看郡縣制的形成及其發展” conducted by Prof. YANG Zhenhong on 9 October 2015.

Prof. YANG Zhenhong, Associate Director of Bamboo and Silk Documents Center, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was invited by the Department and the Centre for Chinese History to present a lecture to the Department’s postgraduate students.

Qin Bamboo Texts excavated in the past few decades, such as Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips and Liye Bamboo and Wooden Texts, recorded the law and official documents of the Qin dynasty. Prof. YANG revisited the formation and development of Prefecture-County System through analysing the evolution of the meaning of “邦” and “内史” in the bamboo texts and exploring the process from Enfeoffment System to Prefecture-County System.
