CUHK professor speaks on STEM education at Oxford St Anne’s Summer School

Prof. Anthony So discusses the relationship between STEM and the future of innovation at Oxford St Anne’s Summer School. 

On 18 July 2018, Prof. Anthony So, Associate Dean (Student Affairs) of the Faculty of Engineering conducted a talk on ‘STEM Education and the Future of Innovation’ for the University of Oxford St Anne’s College Summer School in Hong Kong.

The St Anne’s Summer School attracts senior secondary school students in Hong Kong to learn more about the different disciplines in university and allows students to get a taste of Oxford’s education system.

Prof. Anthony So was invited to contribute to the School by sharing with students the importance and role of STEM in the future for innovation in areas such as financial technologies, internet of things, and data-driven e-commerce. He also talked about the Minor Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at CUHK which nurtures students’ creativity and entrepreneurial attributes, allowing them to grasp the opportunities brought by various types of technological innovations.

The students were keen to learn more about the topic and were enlightened on how STEM can enable them to become not just the consumers but also creators of technology.

CUHK and St Anne’s College have been collaborating in medical education and research, especially in personalised medicine.
