If you want to submit your final project reports, codes and other thing using the server like submitting the labs and HWs previously, you can use the lab7 as the name of it. And double check your submission file. (if you have compressed it on terminal) try to download the file and see can you open it. And after submission, please check the auto-generated email to see did the file really passed to phys3061 account.

You can submit your lab and HW late with penalty. The penalty increase 1% per day for first 7 day of late submission, then it is 2% per day till 20% total penalty. The labs and HWs make up large portion of your final grade. So you should submit them!

In lab 6 task 2, the 100 mm^2 area is the total area of the simulation cell. The area/number of grids with charge in the center region is defined by you. You can choose what ever area to be charged, as long as it didn't cover the whole area. There is a updated lab6 slides on the download area.

Dear students,










Sorry we made a mistake in our lab2 notes. On the page "Examples of Appropriate units", light_speed we define is wrong, it should be 2997924.58 in angstrom/ps. If you used the 299792.458 in lab2, no mark will be deducted.










But you need to change your lab3 code to use the correct value. Please help us tell your friends and classmates the speed of light we gave is wrong.

To get you familiar with our new setting of the lecture and lab, Felix, Bin, Wenjing, and I will conduct a practice class on 3:30 pm, Feb. 10. We値l send you a URL this Friday both to your email address and post it on our course website so that you can join the class next Monday. In the practice class, I値l show you how to communicate with me in during the lecture and how to get helped from TA during the lab.

















For the TA consultation hour, each TA will open their own conference room for you to join and ask questions.

















For the literature review presentation and term long project presentation, we値l also use the system. So you will use ZOOM to present the literature review for 5 min to the whole class in the next to the last class and present your term long project for 5 min to the whole class in the last class of this semester.

















Please take care of your health, avoid unnecessary outside exposure, and stay strong. Also, feel free to send me or TAs emails if you have any problems or difficulties.

According to our information, it is very likely that online class of PHYS3061 will start on Feb. 17. The venue will be cuhk.zoom.us. You can login your zoom account with your CUHK student email account and password. CUHK has purchased a full membership of the software. You can download and setup the software in your preferred devices. Each time, before our normal class time, I値l send an invitation to your so that we can start our class at our normal class time, which is Monday 3:30 pm and Tuesday 1:30 pm this term.


















Next Monday, 3:30 pm, our TAs and I will give you a brief introduction on the usage of zoom in PHYS3061 and also the lab session. It will last for about 20-30 mins. Please arrive on time. The software is intuitive to use with a lot of functionalities. In the online lab session, we can open a special breakout room for TA and you if you have any questions during the programming. Still, it requires practices to be perfect and efficient. Please forgive us if we encounter problems during the first few uses. After the class finishes, our TA will upload the video to video stream websites and email the link.
