Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. WONG Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President; and Ms. Shally Fan, Director of Academic Links, took part in the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Annual Presidents’ Meeting themed ‘Universities in an Age of Global Migrations’ hosted by the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the US during 23-25 June 2019. The event was participated by over 130 educators, including 24 university presidents, together with senior university leaders and other academics, from 17 Pacific Rim economies.

Prof. Tuan spoke on immigration and diversity in universities, conveying that it is possible for universities in the territory to handle a diverse mix of cultures. He identified cultural approaches in particular as a promising strategy for navigating the social and cultural impacts of immigration. In addition, he introduced the APRU Asia-Pacific Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystems to be held in the Hong Kong Science Park during 2-5 December 2019.
