 Task Force on GE Foundation Course was established.  |

 Senate Committee on General Education approved the pilot courses UGD2411 "Classics for Today: In Search of Good Life and Good Society" and UGB2412 "Science in Classics: Exploring the Universe and Life".  | 
| January 2009 | 
 The first phase of the pilot programme was introduced. Each course has one session that students could take as an elective.  | 
| September 2009 | 
 The second phase of the pilot programme was introduced. Each course has 5 sessions that students can take as an elective.  | 
| 2010 | 
 The soft launch of the programme. All Secondary 6 entrants would need to take the 2 General Education foundation courses starting from the second semester of their first year.  | 
| 2012 | 
 The full-fledged launch of the programme. Every student would need to take the 2 General Education foundation courses starting from the second semester of their first year.  |
