- The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Master of Computer Science (Master of Science in Computer Science) programme provides students with four options of major focused streams, which are the General Stream, the Financial Computing Stream, the Information Security Stream and the Multimedia Computing Stream.
The medium of instruction of the programme is English, the most used academic and professional language in Hong Kong. The Master of Computer Science programme covers a broad range of subjects in Computer Science including a vast variety of courses for every student to choose from. Apart from the General Stream, the Information Security Stream is also a multidisciplinary stream which mainly focuses on the professional activity about the cutting edge technology in Hong Kong’s information security and the cyber security system. Different aspects of technology in information security will be examined such as the technical issues, the organisation structure and the legal point of view.
Focusing on the multimedia computing, visualisation, communications, analytics and applications, the Multimedia Computing Stream allows students to be equipped with all practical skills and theoretical capabilities, hence to further develop the creative multimedia computing technologies. The Financial Computing Stream of the programme is designed for drilling the data and algorithms used in the finance industry. Students who has a strong interest in the financial field can choose this stream to gain their practical numerical methods and other useful techniques which are applicable to the financial analysis in any business settings.
