In memory of Dr. Edmund P. Woo
1940-2019
Dr. Edmund Pui-Leung ‘Ed’ Woo, age 78 of Gainesville, passed away on May 28, 2019 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born June 20, 1940 in Hong Kong. He graduated with a BSc. magna cum laude from Queens University and a PhD from University of Windsor, both in Canada. He did his postdoctoral research with Professor Franz Sondheimer at University College London and had a distinguished career as an organic chemist for Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Michigan.
Being an outstanding organic chemist, Dr. Woo spent his academic career at our University in 1970s. He was devoted to teaching and nurtured a number of brilliant students, including Emeritus Professor of Chemistry of CUHK, Prof. Henry Wong.
