Ms. Ivy Shenglan CHEN is a PhD Candidate at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Law, with research interests in law and development, empirical legal studies, and comparative constitutional law. She is a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship.
Ivy graduated from the Peking University School of Transnational Law, where she was the Executive Editor of the Peking University Transnational Law. She was a Fellow with the U.S.-Asia Institute in Washington DC. She previously interned for the Superior Court of Washington DC and the Supreme People’s Court in Shenzhen, China. She is a member at the PKU-STL Alumni Advisory Board.
Ivy passed the National Judicial Examination of China.
THESIS TOPIC
Active Ingredients for Economic Growth within Judicial Independence: Statistical Analysis of Chinese Provinces 2014 – 2018, co-supervised by Professors Chao XI and Bryan H. DRUZIN.
RESEARCH INTERESTS AND AIMS
Ivy is interested in law and development, empirical legal studies, and comparative constitutional law. With her thesis, she intends to use statistical methods to quantitatively analyze the relationship between the institutional design of the judiciary in China and China’s economic development.
