Ms. Yurong Huang is a PhD Candidate at The Chinese University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law. Before the commencement of the PhD programme, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) from the University of Southern California with two certificates (Business Law Certificate and Transnational Law and Business Certificate) and her Bachelor of Law (LLB) from China University of Political Science and Law. When she pursued her undergraduate studies at CUPL, she was a member of the Legal Assistance Service Center and embraced the opportunity to intern in local Intermediate People’s Court. During her studies at USC, She constantly attended large-scale lectures and seminars like the Institute of Entertainment Law and Business, and was honored to communicate with senior academics and legal practitioners about problems like what kind of measures entertainment companies should take to be adapted to the digital-oriented business world. She has got admitted to the New York State Bar, passed the Legal Professional Qualification Exam of People’s Republic of China and acquired the Certificate of Securities Qualification.
What Do Corporate Boards Really Do in China?, co-supervised by Professors Chao XI and Dicky TSANG.
I am interested in corporate law, financial regulation, merger and acquisition and empirical studies. With my thesis, I hope to carry out cross-sectional studies about law and finance, and thoroughly investigate the issues such as the theories and research methodologies concerning law and finance in different legal systems, corporate governance, and protection of investors’ interests in China, in the hope of providing insights into company administration, improvement of ownership structure, formulation of investment security strategy, and the like.
