PHYS4802 Seminar II

Small group discussions on topics in modern or contemporary physics. Students are advised to take PHYS3041, 3052 and 3202 or their equivalents before taking this course. Prerequisite: permission of the instructor.

Late policy

Students must arrive at the classroom on time. Students who do not show up within 5 minutes of the beginning of session are considered as late, and two late attendances will be regarded as one absence and one sub-grade will be deducted.

Abstract and outline requirement

Each team is required to submit the abstract and outline of their talk to their teacher at least two weeks before the presentation. Afterwards, the team should arrange a meeting and get feedbacks from the teacher. The abstract should not exceed 100 words and the outline is limited to one A4 page. The meeting, abstract, and outline cover 20 % of the assessment.

Presentation files

Each team is required to post their talk to the course webpage via the teacher at least three days before the presentation. The file size should not exceed 20 MB. Other students should download and go through the presenting materials and prepare for questions. The teacher will randomly assign students to ask questions after the talk. Soft copies of presentation slides/transparencies must be submitted to the teacher within one week after the presentation.
