Research in this cluster explores the causes and effects of various economic and organisational phenomena from a sociological perspective. Economic and organisational sociologists investigate a number of substantive topics, from the firm and non-profit organisations, markets and other formal and informal institutions to entrepreneurship. They also use diverse research methodologies, including in-depth interviewing, ethnographic, historical, comparative, quantitative, experimental, and mixed methods approaches. This cluster runs an informal working group to bring together faculty and graduate students working in these two broadly defined fields. The working group provides a platform for participants to share their research findings, present their paper(s) (or work-in-progress) and receive feedback.
