Exchange

The College has developed a number of college-based exchanges with overseas institutions and will try to facilitate international experiences for as many students as possible. Morningsiders may participate in two types of overseas student exchange programs:

OAL University-wide Exchanges

These are exchanges administered by the University’s Office of Academic Links (OAL). The University has established exchange relationships with over 200 institutions overseas; these opportunities are open to all students in the University, so Morningside students compete with other CUHK students to be selected to participate. OAL has an excellent webpage that provides details on programmes, application procedures, and important deadlines.

College-based Exchanges

These are exchanges open only to Morningside students. Please note the following:

Notifications regarding application details for college-based exchanges will be made through weekly notices in early October each year.

Some financial aid is available from both the College and the University to help defray expenses such as airfare, accomodation and living expenses. (N.B. Students going on exchange pay standard CUHK tuition, not the tuition of the overseas institution.)

Note: Students need to submit separate applications to OAL and the College if they are interested in being considered for exchanges administered by each unit.

Note:

With international student exchanges being severely impacted due to the ongoing global health and safety issues over the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years, the number of outgoing exchange programmes and places available for the 2021-22 academic year will be reduced. Some programmes available previously may not be offered in 2021-22.
Due to limited places available in 2021-22, the following rules will be implemented for the 2021 outgoing exchange selection exercise.

First year students, except for senior-year intake students, are not eligible in College's selection. First year students are encouraged to apply from next year.
Students who had accepted a term-time exchange offer for 2021-22 from any CUHK units will not receive an offer from College's selection.
Each student will receive only one offer for 2021-22 from any CUHK units, regardless of exchange period, if the student is eligible to participate in the College's selection.

* In the programme descriptions, FTE stands for “Full-Time Equivalent”. One FTE is equal to one student for a full academic year or two students for one semester each.
